Macaroni Review ~ Colorado Renaissance Festival

[Thanks to Cari, the new MK Commerce City Publisher, for providing this review for us!]

Last weekend we had the pleasure of heading to Larkspur to check out the Renaissance Festival. We have only lived in Colorado for a few years so we had only heard of this event. It was pretty amazing! There were costumed people walking the streets of the park area and exotic animals that were there for petting or riding.

My kids were so thrilled to ride an elephant and to shoot a bow and arrow. The Jousting was quite a treat as well with their “to the death” play. There were incredible shopping opportunities for jewelry, costumes, toys, décor and much, much more. My boys, ages 4 and 6, absolutely loved it. They wanted to be knights or pirates and join in the fun.

I was warned that the prices of the food and such were high, but honestly I spent no more than I would have if I had gone to McDonald’s or Macaroni Grill, and the quality of the food was fantastic! I did miss out on the smoked Turkey leg though…..maybe next time!

It had begun to rain as we arrived early afternoon. Even though we were pelted with a bit of hail, I am glad it rained because once the sun came out the air was cool and comfortable. I will caution you though if you or anyone in your family is disabled—the wheelchair access is a bit tricky, but do-able.

I would recommend the Colorado Renaissance as a great day trip to take with the family, especially if you have never been before.

My family and I received complimentary tickets to the Renaissance Festival for the purposes of writing this review. Even so, the opinions are my own.
