September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, and two Colorado organizations are bringing our community together for a meaningful day of hope, remembrance, connection, and support.
The Marystrong Foundation and Marc Jr. Foundation will host the 2nd Annual Fight with Faith Pediatric Cancer Awareness Community Event on Sunday, September 13, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. at Frassati Catholic Academy in Thornton.
And everyone in the community is invited to attend — completely free of charge.
🎗️ A Community Coming Together
Fight with Faith was created to fill a need here in Colorado: a dedicated Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month event where families impacted by childhood cancer can find resources and encouragement — while the larger community has an opportunity to learn, remember, and stand alongside them.
More than 300 people are expected to attend this year's event, including pediatric cancer families from across Colorado, healthcare providers, schools, local businesses, churches, nonprofits, and community organizations.
Families can expect:

💛 Opportunities to connect with organizations supporting pediatric cancer families
💛 Bags of Hope for children and families currently facing cancer
💛 Bags of Remembrance honoring families who have lost a child
💛 A special memorial ceremony honoring children currently fighting cancer and remembering those who have passed
It's a day designed not only to raise awareness, but to remind families walking through pediatric cancer that they don't have to walk through it alone.
💛 The Children Behind the Mission
The Marystrong Foundation was created in memory of Mary Stegmueller, who passed away in 2024 at just 7 years old following a courageous 40-month battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), an aggressive and currently incurable pediatric brain cancer.
The Marc Jr. Foundation was founded 18 years ago in memory of Marc Jr., who also lost his life to DIPG at age 12.
Today, their legacies continue through organizations working together to support other pediatric cancer families through advocacy, family assistance, awareness, and community partnerships.

Faith is an important part of the heart behind Fight with Faith. Hosted at Frassati Catholic Academy with support from St. John Paul II Parish and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, the event offers families a place where compassion, hope, and community come together during some of life's most difficult moments.
While the event is rooted in faith, people of all backgrounds and beliefs are warmly welcomed.
