FREE GUEST DAYS, January 23-25
(details below)

What a difference two weeks makes. Over the holidays, I missed 2+ weeks of CrossFit. Now, I've been back for two weeks. I'm not going to lie; the first couple days back were ugly. I was tired. I was sore. I was not on top of my game. But the beauty of being part of a COMMUNITY vs. being a member of a gym, is that you are missed and you have to get your butt back in the door! Accountability is like that friend who knows what's best for you, even if you don't agree with her/him right away. If you've ever worked out, stopped, and started up again, then you know that the sooner you get back into a routine, the easier it is to get back to where you left off.

So I'm about 10 weeks in now, and I am still not the buff-chick stereotype of a CrossFit athlete. What the heck?!? Turns out that my body has been doing things incorrectly for years, and it's got a lot of relearning to do. And while I may not look the part of a CrossFitter - yet - I am getting all kinds of more fit. As I mentioned in my last article, I have been working on hip mobility. Mobility is something that takes time to improve. Sometimes a loooong time. But last week, as I was doing a front squat, I could feel that I was actually down a good 3-4 inches deeper than I could get when I started! The hubs even confirmed it. The trick for me right now is to measure my progress based on where *I* started, not where everyone else is. Sounds like a no-brainer, but easier said than done.

The point I'm trying to make is, don't avoid CrossFit because you think you're not in good enough shape! Every workout can, and should, be scaled to your abiity, strength, and mobility. What I love about the coaches at CrossFit Thornton is that they encourage you without pushing you to go beyond what's safe.

This week is a perfect time to try it out, whether you are new to working out, new to CrossFit, or just want to see what CrossFit Thornton is all about. They are having three FREE GUEST DAYS this week - Jan. 23, 24, and 25. You can take a class on any or all of these three days, totally free. Check out class schedule here to choose which all-levels class(es) you'd like to attend (highlighted in red). If you can shoot me an email and let me know when you'll be going, that would be great...but definitely not necessary. When you show up, tell them that Leslie from Macaroni Kid sent you!

If the free guest days don't work for you, you can still try a FREE session when you mention Mac Kid! EMAIL ME if you want me there at your first class; I will figure out a way to make it work. If I can do this, so can you!

Disclosure: I was given a membership in exchange for writing a series of articles about CrossFit Thornton. Even so, the experiences and opinions are 100% my own.
