Fire Safety Days at Thornton Fire Department

Register your preschool or home-school child today!

October 1, 2013
October is Fire Prevention Month, and the Thornton Fire Department is excited to host the third annual “Fire Safety Days” intended for preschool-age children and home-based schools.

Thornton FD has set aside two special days to offer Life Safety Education to your students at Fire Station 5. The Life Safety Trailer will be available to teach the importance of E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drills In The Home), where students will watch simulated smoke enter from under the door, feel the heated door and then evacuate to safety using the window and escape ladder.

Students will then be given a presentation by a Thornton firefighter. He will explain his job as a firefighter and dress in full gear. Students will be oohed and aahed by a big red fire truck and shown all the exciting lifesaving tools and equipment. Lastly, they will be given a tour of the Fire Station.

Fire Safety Days will take place on Wednesday, October 2 and Thursday, October 3, 2013, with time slots from 8AM to 12PM.

The program will be held at Fire Station 5, 14051 Colorado Boulevard. The overall event should last about one hour. You must preregister for this event! Please call Sabrina Iacovetta at 303-538-7654 or click here to email her to schedule your time.
