Macaroni Review ~ The Jabra® Tour

By Leslie Risley, Macaroni Kid Thornton-Northglenn-Brighton-E. Westminster September 11, 2014
For the past few weeks, I have been trying out the Jabra® Tour. The Tour is a hands-free speaker for your car - or anywhere, really - that connects via Bluetooth to up to two phones. Hands-free talking on the phone while driving is certainly more convenient, and it may be safer as well...You can keep both hands on the steering wheel (or one on the gear shift), you don’t accidentally drop your phone and have to look around for it while driving, and so on.

I was already using a headset while driving, but the battery life is pretty short. So I was excited to try out the Tour, which clips to your car's visor.

What I like about the Tour:
  • Up to 20 hours talk time and 40 hours standby time
  • Nothing to install - just clip it to your car visor.
  • Comes with a car charging adaptor and USB cable
  • It was SO EASY to pair with my phone. The Tour talked me through everything step-by-step, and basically I just had to turn it on, open Bluetooth on my phone, and voila!
  • Sound clarity on my end is really good and plenty loud…with volume control to make it "just right."
  • Once you learn the positions of the buttons, it's easy to operate without taking your eyes off the road.
  • It announces who’s calling, if they are in your contact list.
  • If you have an iPhone, you can press and hold the Home button and Siri will communicate with you through the speaker. I'm sure Android phones have a similar feature.
  • Automatic motion-sensor knows when you and your phone get in the car, and then the Tour automatically connects.
  • You can pair the Tour with a free app, Jabra Assist, that will tell you how much battery power you have left, and even help you find your car!! No more wandering around the parking lot aimlessly, trying to honk the horn with your key remote (if you even have one). Brilliant! Incidentally, I felt weird about having my car’s location saved to my phone, so was happy to learn that you can clear all location data from the app with a single click.
What I would change:
  • This is one is out of Jabra’s hands - no pun intended! - but I didn’t like using the Tour when there were other people in the car.
  • My husband said there was a lot of background noise on his end when nobody was talking. As soon as he or I did talk, though, the Tour cut out all that extra noise.

The Jabra Tour retails for $79.99 and can be purchased at Jabra.com.
