Ski In/Ski Out at Grand Colorado on Peak 8 at Breck

February 19, 2019

There is nothing more luxurious than walking out of your hotel and walking a very short distance to the chair lifts, especially with kids. Which is exactly the experience we had while staying at the Grand Colorado on Peak 8 last weekend!

We recently spent two nights at the Grand Colorado on Peak 8 at Breckenridge and we had the best visit. We were able to maximize our skiing time because we were so close to the lifts, and when we were exhausted at the end of the day, it was so close that it wasn’t even awful to carry all the kids stuff back to the hotel ski lockers! And then we could leave all our gear in the lockers without having to lug it up to our room. (If you’ve skied with kids and all their gear, you absolutely know what I’m talking about, this was pure luxury!)

The hotel is right near the gondola at Peak 8, which makes it super easy to head to downtown Breckenridge too. Although I’ll be honest, we just stayed on the property during our stay because it was so easy. The first night we used the kitchenette in our room to make spaghetti (and smelled other people making chili, which was another great idea) and the second night we picked up some food at the on-site restaurant – Robbie’s Tavern at the Bergenhof. The kitchenette didn’t include an oven, but the stove top worked just fine for us, and you could even bring a crock pot to make dinner while you’re out skiing. The kitchenette was perfect for making a quick breakfast before heading out too.

The kids’ favorite part was the time we spent in the pool area. Grand Colorado on Peak 8 has so much variety when it comes to their aquatics area. They have a big heated pool that is indoor/outdoor plus an outdoor heated kiddie pool. Plus they have another indoor kiddie pool with a fun slide, that my kids loved. Also scattered throughout the aquatics area are several hot tubs, all with fun views of the skiers still working hard on the slopes.

Both evenings during our stay were spent in the aquatics area, and the kids were so exhausted after skiing and swimming that bedtime was so easy. We loved that we were able to get day use of the property on our last day, which meant we could take the kids swimming after skiing and avoid the crazy Saturday afternoon traffic back down into Denver. (My understanding is that any owners at this property have this perk, plus the use of a day room right off the slopes, which is a HUGE perk!)

One of the nights during our stay we also took advantage of the family fun center where there are a few arcade games, a foosball table, shuffleboard, and private movie theaters that you can rent for free! We didn’t use a movie theater during our stay, but how fun would that be if you were travelling with a group to watch a movie together after a day on the ski hill. We did enjoy the other entertainment in the family fun center.

Staying at the Grand Colorado Peak 8 was such a treat because it was so close to the ski lifts, and we had the best time!

We were given two free nights at the Grand Colorado on Peak 8 in exchange for this review, but the thoughts and opinions are my own - and we had a GREAT time!
