Now Enrolling for Piano and Early Childhood Music Classes in Thornton

July 23, 2019

Let’s Play Music with Miss Cameron is now enrolling for their piano and early childhood music classes for ages 0-12 at their studio located near 136th and I-25 in Thornton!

In the Let’s Play Music programs, we know that children learn most effectively through play! Peek in any of our classes and you’ll see jumping, singing, skipping, storytelling, and laughing!

We understand that a child has to be physically involved in the learning process, so we use the eyes, ears, hands, and full body movement to learn concepts usually taught on paper.

We also know that children enjoy learning in a peer group setting. The synergy of a Let’s Play Music class naturally encourages children to participate and to excel.Your child will learn advanced concepts and skills using age-appropriate methods!

Ages 4-6

Let’s Play Music is our flagship curriculum. This three-year program solves the problem that a child is most ready to learn music at an early age, but his fingers and letter skills are not ready until later. We take full advantage of the brain’s ability to absorb musical concepts and teach skills in an age appropriate way. Solfege hand signs, folk songs, games, imagination and creativity are important components of each lesson.

FIRST YEAR: We use engaging games and songs and incorporate Tone Bells to teach staff awareness and rhythm reading skills.

SECOND YEAR: We transfer these skills to playing the piano where we also learn chord notation, intervals, and harmonic improvisation.

THIRD YEAR: Students are playing piano at level 1-2, transposing music, composing their own music, sight-reading music, and are prepared for further private piano instruction.

CLASS TIMES:

  • Mondays 4:35pm - 5:20pm
  • Saturdays 9:30am - 10:15 am

CLASS INFORMATION

  • 6-7 students per class
  • Parents attend with child every other week
  • Classes for the 2019-2020 school year run 30 weeks from the end of August through the beginning of May

About Miss Cameron

Want to know more about Miss Cameron? Here's you go!

"Music has been a part of my life since I was a young child.  My parents heavily prioritized giving my brother, sister, and I a strong musical education.  My mom had never learned to play an instrument as a child, and always wished she had, so she wanted to make sure she gave us that foundation.

After being involved with choir, piano and viola during my early school years, I started teaching piano my senior year of high school and fell in love with it. I found that I loved breaking difficult concepts down so that beginners could understand them, loved the creativity of teaching, and loved children.  I would stay up late into the night researching different curriculum!  It took me a year of being an undeclared major in college to realize that, if I loved teaching so much, maybe I should make a career out of it.

I found Let’s Play Music my junior year of college and realized it was everything I had been looking for in a curriculum – it taught not only note reading skills, but ear training, theory, composition, and more. I have now been teaching piano for 11 years and Let’s Play Music for 8 years. I am excited to bring a quality music education to more children in the Thornton area!"
