Be inspired by women in science!

CBS Colorado Meteorologist Lauren Whitney hosts GIRLS & SCIENCE, which offers online resources, video presentations, and activity kits for girls.

A GIRLS & SCIENCE Community Conversation will be streamed live on CBS News Colorado in mid-March. The conversation will feature Girls Inc. of Metro Denver's youth participants and female mentors sharing their experiences in STEM fields. Through various presentations and online resources, girls and their families will enjoy learning from women working in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math).

"We invite girls of all ages to be inspired by women in STEM through GIRLS & SCIENCE," Director of Community and Strategic Partnerships Elaine Torres said.

"CBS Colorado is providing a month of virtual engagement and inspiration with hands-on opportunities to explore science and learn from leading women working in scientific fields. It's an opportunity to motivate girls throughout Colorado to explore STEM careers, and it all kicks off with a free in-person event at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science with CBS Colorado Meteorologist Lauren Whitney."

The event will include hands-on activities and information on how girls can pursue STEM careers.

Throughout March, girls can watch streaming videos on CBS Colorado: Girls & Science Mentors from leading women in local scientific jobs.

Another significant aspect of GIRLS & SCIENCE is the opportunity to register online for "Girls thINC Outside the Box" activity kits. Girls who subscribe to GIRLS thINC Outside the Box activity kits have access to instructional videos and trained Girls Inc. educators to support their experience at home.

Boxes are specifically designed for girls 6-10 years old and include an array of information and activities.
