๐Ÿน New Thornton Archery Range Thanks to Girl Scout Troop 62511

By City of Thornton Parks, Recreation and Community Programs Department February 24, 2021

The City of Thornton now has an ADA-accessible archery range, featuring 12 target stands and six bow hangers, thanks to a partnership between Girl Scout Troop 62511 and the City of Thornton Parks, Recreation and Community Programs Department.

The Girl Scouts planned their design with the intention of promoting the sport of archery for its mental focus and physical benefits. They helped build the range and secured all of the materials needed through a local lumber company, Alpine Lumber.  The end result is a fully accessible archery range that is open to the public at no cost.

Bow stands and targets are at a height that is accessible to participants in wheelchairs and is the only free archery range of its kind in the area!  In addition to adding an outstanding new amenity for the community, the girls earned the Silver Award, the highest honor for Girl Scouts in middle school.

The range is located at 5990 E 100th Ave, Thornton 80229, and is open to all.  In the coming months, additional accessibility features and fencing will be added.
