Borrow Yard Project Tools for FREE with the County's Tool Shed Program

By Adams County April 13, 2023

The Adams County Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Department understands that the tools needed for yard projects can often be an economic barrier for families- let alone cumbersome to store! Through the CSWB's Tool Shed program, residents of unincorporated Adams County can borrow tools and equipment for FREE to beautify their yards and neighborhoods.

The program offers two options for residents—yard cleanup and neighborhood cleanup. For yard cleanup, residents can check out individual tools to clean up their own yards or to help a neighbor clean up their yard. The neighborhood cleanup allows residents to check out the full Tool Shed for a larger, community cleanup.

Available Tools

  • Lawn Mowers, Weed Trimmers, Edgers, Hedge Trimmers, Leaf Blowers
  • Weed Pullers, Leaf Rakes, Tree Pruner
  • 100-ft Garden Hoses, Hose Spray Nozzles
  • Electric Cords
  • Spade Shovels, Square Shovels, Trowel Planters, Garden Hoes, D-Handle Drain Spade Shovels

While both programs are free to use, residents must meet specific requirements:

  • The neighborhood and yard cleanups must be in unincorporated Adams County
  • The cleanup efforts must have a designated Cleanup Coordinator (for neighborhood cleanups)
  • The equipment or Tool Shed can be used for up to three days.
  • Participants must be 18 or older to use any of the power equipment.
  • Tool delivery/pick-up is not available on weekends or holidays.

Reservations are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
