Publisher's Note - June 2nd - It's My Birthday!

June 2, 2021

πŸ₯³πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‰ It's my birthday tomorrow! Birthdays aren't as big and grand when we're adults, but I do appreciate the opportunity to look back on the past year or more and see the adventures I've had and the personal growth I've experienced. This year I get to actually celebrate with my friends because we're holding our book club in person for the first time in many months, and I'm thrilled!

🏨🍣πŸͺ My birthday gift to myself is a night out in a local hotel, all by myself! I will however be collecting sushi from Japon Rolls, cookies from Crumbl, and a bottle of wine from Applejack to join me! I'm planning on forcing myself to stay in the room to read or watch a favorite show. I love that I won't have any responsibilities and won't have anyone asking me for a snack. Plus I can sleep in without feeling like I have to get everyone started with their day. I've never done this before, and I'm thinking I should probably do it a few times a year!

πŸ‘©‍🍳 My Supper Club is also meeting in person again and I get to host on Sunday. It's very strange to prepare to entertain in my home after 16+ months. I'm noticing things around the house that definitely need to get tidied up and cleaned, it's like my pandemic blinders have come off. Our dinner theme is Denver Chefs, and we'll be enjoying recipes from Carrie Baird (Top Chef), Frasca, Hosea Rosenberg (Blackbelly), and Mercantile. It's going to be a delicious dinner!

πŸ€πŸΉπŸΆ I signed my kids up for 4H this year and my daughter had her two fair project activities for the first time tonight - archery and dog training. She had an amazing night, her face just lit up during both of her sessions. I was so impressed with the parent coaches too, they really do a great job with the kids and love to see them succeed. Looking forward to learning more about all the fabulous things they can do with 4H!

🍿🎬🐎 I think we're going to head to the movie theater for the first time in many, many months. My daughter really wants to see the new Spirit movie, and I think it would be a great outing. Sadly the Brighton AMC doesn't have their early matinees right now, hopefully, they start to come back soon in the summer, that's my favorite time to take them. We can get movie tickets and popcorn for $30 at the first showing, it's fantastic.

I'm excited that there are so many fun family summer events being announced, it seems like there are more every day. My daughter was just saying that she's starting to feel busy again with activities and I think it's really taking a weight off of her. It's been a very, very long pandemic for all of us. We're still being careful and wearing masks until the kids are vaccinated, but we're ready to get back out there in the world!

I hope you have a fabulous week, I'll see you next week in your inboxes!

Peace, Love, and Macaroni,

Susan
