A community tradition like no other, Frederick's Chainsaws and Chuck Wagons festival brings together the most masterful chainsaw carvers for an epic showdown of turning giant logs into beautiful works of art.
The 2023 carving competition will take place July 19-22 at Centennial Park (630 Eight Street, Frederick) with family-friendly fun and delicious food. Vote for your favorite creation to see who will be crowned this year's top carver.
Event Schedule
Tuesday, July 18
- 4pm-6pm ~ Information Station in Downtown Frederick
- Get your questions answered, plus - we'll have popsicles for the family, and you might walk away with a $25 gift card to a local business. Win-win!
Wednesday, July 19
- 10 am - Event kickoff with carving all day. Carvers will meet to pick their logs and settle in to start carving! Carvers will bring art to sell at their booths located near the carving area.
Thursday, July 20
- Carving all day
- 4 pm - 8 pm: Chuckwagons: Food trucks will include Dos Medinas, Hangry Elf, Origins Pizza, Sticky Fingers, Steamy Weiners, and the Sno Ball Shack.
- 4 pm, 5:30 pm, 7:30 pm: Axe Women Shows
- 6 pm - 7 pm: Quick Carve
- 7 pm: Auctioneer with Quick Carve Auction (bring cash or credit card)
Friday, July 21
- Carving all day
- 4 pm - 8 pm: Local Market Vendors & Chuckwagons: Food trucks will include The Burger Bus, Edge Gourmet Street Kitchen, Mile High Cheesesteaks, Origins Pizza, and I Scream CO.
- 4 pm, 5:30 pm, 7:30 pm: Axe Women Show
Saturday, July 22
- Carvers are finishing their masterpieces. All carvers will finish by 4 pm.
- 12 pm - 6 pm: Visitors will vote for the best-carved masterpiece at the Town Tent.
- 12 pm - 7 pm: Chuckwagons: Food trucks will include The Burger Bus, Butcher & The Blonde, Edge Gourmet Street Kitchen, Nacho Mama's Tacos, Origin's Pizza, Original by Greeks, Sticky Fingers, I Scream CO, and Sno Zone.
- 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm: Axe Women Show
- 6 pm: Quick Carve
- 7 pm: Auctioneer with Quick Carve Auction (bring cash or credit card) and Chainsaw Competition winner announcement.
