🌻 Our Visit to Immersive Van Gogh Denver

January 12, 2022

We had the opportunity to visit Immersive Van Gogh last week and I was enthralled!

What is Immersive Van Gogh?

With the help of 60,600 frames of video, 90,000,000 pixels, and 500,000+ cubic feet of projections, this captivating digital art exhibit merges state-of-the-art technology, theatrical storytelling, and world-class animation. It gives guests the rare opportunity to "step inside" and experience the incredible post-Impressionist works of Van Gogh like never before.

My Tips

🌻 We brought our kids, but I think I would have enjoyed it more with just my husband or a group of girlfriends. We're homeschoolers so of course, we had done some learning about Van Gogh before going to the exhibit. During our time there I felt like I was consumed with making sure my kids recognized the artwork and were interested. What I really wanted to do was sit there in awe as the artwork morphed before my eyes. I finally gave up on the kids and did just that! My seven-year-old enjoyed lying on the floor and watching, but he really wasn't that interested. My 10-year-old was interested and enjoyed it all (but I think learning about VanGogh and his work was important to her enjoying it.)

🌻 The exhibit is about a one-hour constantly rotating presentation. You'll likely walk into the space in the middle and will want to stay through the next showing to see what you missed. We saw about the last half when we came in and stayed for another full showing.

🌻 You can walk around as the images are projected, but if you sit down you'll still have a great view. Some spots have benches and others you'll need to stand or sit on the floor. If you do end up on the floor, a brilliant couple next to us sat back to back for a little more support, and they both had a great view since the projections are duplicated in front and back of you.

🌻 There is a small bar at the entrance to the exhibit, since you're likely going to be in one place it's a great idea to grab a drink to sip on while you enjoy the show.

🌻 It's a bit of a walk to the entrance and the parking lot may be a bit muddy if you arrive after a snowfall. (I was regretting the white shoes I chose that day....)
