Pregnancy comes with plenty of excitement and other emotions, but it can come with a lot of aches and pains too.
During my first pregnancy, I was so miserable. I couldn’t sleep because my hips hurt so badly. I found out later how beneficial chiropractic adjustments can be during pregnancy and wished I had heard earlier!
The second time around, I started with a chiropractor around 14 weeks and it made such a difference. I was much more comfortable throughout my pregnancy and my son had more room to move and get into the right position.

Why is Chiropractic Beneficial During Pregnancy?
The body changes so much in pregnancy especially the pelvis and center of gravity and better alignment will help with the shifting joint load. Another challenge during pregnancy is the hormone relaxin which causes joints to stretch out and can be uncomfortable. Chiropractic adjustments can provide relief for this discomfort.
What is the Webster technique?
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/ SI joint dysfunction. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated.
In other words, it’s a specific technique that may help with safer and easier births.
Dr. Courtney is certified in this very important pregnancy technique.

When is the best time in pregnancy to get adjusted?
The sooner the better for both comfort and proper alignment of the baby.
During pregnancy, posture changes and hormone shifts happen right away, and around 20 weeks most moms start to feel the pressure on their joints and the discomfort that comes with that change.
Chiropractic can also be helpful in aiding proper pelvis alignment, which will help the baby naturally move into a head-down position. Scheduling adjustments as the 36-week appointment approaches can be very helpful to encourage this positioning.
