10 Anythink Library Events to Add to Your Calendar in May 2022

 Anythink Libraries sure knows how to have a good time! From storytimes to cooking classes, hands-on projects to live entertainment, their event calendar is loaded with opportunities for visitors of all ages. Take a peek at all the fun to be had this May and be sure to register ahead to book your spot before they fill up.

mySummer Kickoff | ANY Anythink location
Saturday, May 28, 11 am-1 pm 

Visit participating Anythink locations to kick-start your mySummer adventure. Register for programs, meet with staff and make wishes at your local Anythink’s Repository of Wishes. 


Mother’s Day with the Colorado Youth Mariachi Program (CYMP) | Huron
Saturday, May 7, 1:30-3 pm  

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a performance by Mariachi Corazón Alegre! Participants are invited to make a special card before the performance. Concert begins at 2 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Appropriate for families. No advanced registration necessary. 


Early Literacy Mornings with Northglenn High School | Huron

Thursday, May 5, 10-10:45 am  

Join Northglenn High School’s Early Childhood Education students for fun activities focused on early literacy. Let your children learn and explore with hands-on, engaging learning activities developed by local high school students. These students developed the themed literacy kits that have been available at Anythink Huron Street over the past few months. Appropriate for ages 3 to 5. No advanced registration necessary.  


Spinning Beats DJ Lessons | Huron
Thursdays, May 5, 12, 19 & 26, 4-5 pm  

Have you always wanted to learn how to spin and scratch? Now’s your chance! Join us to learn the basics from DJ Chonz of the Denver DJ School. Appropriate for students in upper elementary grades, tweens and teens. Space is limited; registration required. Visit the online calendar to register.


Children’s Art Program with Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) | Huron
Wednesday, May 11, 2:15-3 pm  

Join us after school to create art with Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art! During this free interactive workshop, young artists will different art materials to make something creative, inspired by the artists and artwork on display at the museum in Boulder. What will inspire you and what will you create? Appropriate for ages 5 to 12. No advanced registration necessary. 


Chicos Nichos: Art with Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC) | Brighton
Saturday, May 14, 1-2 pm

Together with the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council, young participants will learn about and decorate “nichos.” In Mexican and South American cultures, small, decorated boxes called “Nichos” are commonly found in homes and public places, displayed on walls or pedestals. Made from wood or tin and often painted with bright colors, they provide a stage-like setting for an object or collection of objects that have great significance. Appropriate for ages 8 to 12. Junior Gardeners: Wildflower Seed Paper | Brighton

Drop in any time to help celebrate Drawing Day. Wander the library to create small, medium and large-scale drawings. Appropriate for all ages. No advanced registration necessary. 


Movement Workshop: Ballet 101 - Wright Farms
Saturday, May 21, 11 am-12 pm

Grow Your Gardening Skills with CSU Extension | Virtual
Saturday, May 14, 2-3 pm  

Grow your gardening skills with this series of programs from April through July with CSU Extension’s Colorado Master Gardeners! Each program will cover specific topics and leave plenty of time for an interactive Q&A session. This month, we’ll discuss planting and selecting trees, starting the warm season veggie garden and selecting and planting perennials. Space is limited; online registration required.
