My Favorite Things About Visiting the Gaylord Rockies

July 20, 2022

It may be close to home, but the resort environment at The Gaylord Rockies will transport your brain to vacation mode! A summer trip to the Gaylord Rockies has become a family tradition, and I look forward to it every year.

We only spent one night at the Gaylord Rockies, but when we walk through those doors, we switch to resort mode and you'd never know we're still in Denver.

Here's what I look forward to every time we've got a trip to the Gaylord Rockies planned:

Pool Time with my Kids

My kids are fish – they can swim all day long, and they do while we're at the Gaylord Rockies. I love that the water is heated year-round, so even if it's a chilly morning, we can still have our planned pool day.

Meals by the Pool

The Gaylord Rockies makes it super easy to feed your family while you're vacationing. There's a poolside restaurant option and you can even order straight from your lounge chair – yes, please! They have affordable kid's meal options and my husband and I thought our grown-up meals were delicious.

Cruising the Lazy River with my Family

The lazy river at the Gaylord Rockies is really fun to cruise in, and the speed of the flowing water is perfect. I usually ditch the tube because I like to float and walk, and there are spots it gets you moving pretty quickly, which is fun!

Enjoying Dinner Out with my Family

Vacation dinners out with my family just seem a little easier, and that's true at the Gaylord Rockies too. We love to sit down together after a long day of being pool bums to talk about the next day, and the Gaylord Rockies offers lots of options to do that.

S'mores on the Lawn with a Gorgeous Sunset View

The opportunities for making family memories at the Gaylord Rockies never stop, and our family loves to end the day with some s'mores on the back patio while watching the sun set. There was a renovation of the "backyard" area underway when we visited, so we're looking forward to seeing what it will look like on our next visit. (Here's one of my favorite pictures from last year's visit!)

Family Sleepover

The kids love sleeping in a hotel room as a family, and I agree that there's something special about all of us living out of one room that brings us a little closer together.

School starts soon, but there’s still time to sneak in Summer of More memories for your family too – or book a stay during the Halloween or Christmas season to make holiday memories! Head here to make your reservation!
