Want to visit your favorite museum for free? Or perhaps you'd like to check out one you've never been to before? Well, you are in luck because the 18th annual Museum Day is happening on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
Museum Day is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian Magazine, in which participating museums across the country open their doors for free to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket.
The annual event allows museums, zoos, and cultural centers from all 50 states to emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day. This year’s event is sponsored by The Quaker Oats Company and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

- Center for Colorado Women's History (Denver)
- Cripple Creek District Museum (Cripple Creek)
- El Pueblo History Museum (Pueblo)
- Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center (For Garland)
- History Colorado (Denver)
- Hiwan Heritage Park & Museum (Evergreen)
- John May Museum Center (Colorado Springs)
- Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art (Denver)
- Museum of Art For Collins (Fort Collins)
- Trinidad History Museum (Trinidad)
- Ute Indian Museum (Montrose)
- Victor Lowell Thomas Museum (Victor)
- Western Museum of Mining & Industry (Colorado Springs)

Museum-goers can head to the Museum Day website to download one free ticket, good for two people, to the museum of your choice. Each ticket grants the ticket holder and one guest free access to any participating museum on September 17th. One ticket is permitted per email address.
Things to Remember
- You MUST have a downloaded ticket in advance to attend for free
- Be sure to check the hours and policies of each museum, as they vary by location
- Special exhibits, food, parking, etc. are not included in your Museum Day ticket
