Hello Macaronians!
I hope you had a great week with your families! The snow was finally starting to melt, but looks like we're getting another dose of it today. Moisture = good, but I sure am tired of the snow and dreary weather! It feels like being back in the midwest and I'm not particularly fond of that!
What were we up to this week? Activities are starting back up again and we're slowly getting back into a regular groove.
I hosted my Book Club on Thursday night to discuss Winter by Frederik Backmann, and what a book! He's currently our favorite author, he has this talent for creating people who are just so real and complicated. This book was the third and final book in the Beartown series, and this was my favorite of the three. So good, I highly recommend any of his books!
On Friday we headed to The Studio at Anythink Wright Farms for their Homeschool Hangout program. The kids got to make keychains with the glow forge and then spent hours creating with the 3D pens. The Studio is such an incredible place with so many resources (3D printers, garment printers, glow forge, large form printers), check out their programs on our calendar if you haven't been yet. But make sure to plan ahead, their programs fill up quickly!
We also stopped by the Dream and Design Immersive Space at Anythink Wright Farms. It's a community opportunity to give feedback about the new library to be built near 136th and Quebec. There were lots of hands on activities in there that my kids could have spent some time on, so we'll have to go back to check it out, I was done after three hours in The Studio! But it's a really cool space, go check it out with your kids!
We had a quiet weekend and invited some friends over Saturday night. I love that the kids are older and can pretty much manage playing together on their own while the adults can play cards and hang out together. It's so strange to have kids that are getting older!
On Monday the kids went back to their farm program at The Giggling Life Care Farm. They haven't been back since the holiday break and they were thrilled to see all the animals again. We're also doing 4H through Kristi at the farm and we had our second meeting on Tuesday. My daughter is planning do show a bunny at fair, and this will be a new experience for us!
The kids also started up basketball for the winter season. They're both playing this year so Saturday's will be full of basketball games, should be fun!
This weekend the kids and I are heading out to Philadelphia to visit with my Sister's family. Her kids will be in school on Friday so I think we're going to check out some historical sites with my kids to cross some "school" off our list too. We're lucky that we can sneak in some historical visits while visiting family! Other than that we'll be hanging out around the house playing games and enjoying each other's company. I'm very much looking forward to the visit!
When we get back they start up their one-day homeschool program and I'm very much looking forward to getting a day to myself back, I've missed it!
What do you have planned this week? It's a slower month for events, but don't forget about the Stock Show! You'll find that and other activities on our events calendar to make some special memories together!
Have a great week!
Peace, love, and macaroni,
Susan
