After more than 5 years of input from the community, the historic City Park Nature Park & Waterway project (a partnership between the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and Denver Parks & Recreation) now has an estimated completion date. Visitors will be able to explore an abundance of family-friendly amenities at the end of 2024.
"This area will be an immersive experience for accessible, multi-generational, and multi-sensory exploration, respite, and play."
Features will include:
- A restoration of the historic waterway in the southeast corner of City Park highlighting the diversity of Colorado’s ecosystems through natural features and play experiences
- Swings, slides, climbing features, and self-directed and contemplative play opportunities
- Seating and gathering spaces for multigenerational enjoyment
- Accessible pathways and play opportunities
- 20’ tall Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep sculptural play structure
- Embedded sculptural play elements that feature animals found throughout Colorado’s diverse ecosystems
- Native plantings supporting native pollinators that reflect the various unique ecosystems of Colorado
