Chess Camp of the Rockies (grades K-12)

This unique and fun chess camp is brought to you through the partnership of two great Colorado chess enterprises, Summit School of Chess and MasterMind Chess. This prestigious camp boasts 3 National Masters with a combined 15 Colorado State Chess Championships between them!

Kids of all ages will enjoy chess lessons, games, physical activity breaks, snacks, and chess games with Master analysis.

There are full day, half day, 3-day, and drop-in options!

The Summit School of Chess is owned and managed by US National Chess Master Jesse Cohen. They provide private chess classes and chess lessons for beginners online and weekday training lessons for a number of schools in the area.


Meet the Camp Staff



National Master Jesse Cohen
Jesse first learned chess from his grandfather at the age of nine. At the age of fourteen, he acquired a chess instructor, studied for hours on end every day, and became an accomplished tournament competitor. Through his success in tournaments, he gained national, state, and scholastic recognition. Jesse has been featured in print, media and commended by the President of the Colorado State Senate for his chess excellence.
Jesse’s teaching philosophy is to promote chess instruction in young minds for purposes of academic achievement as well as develop the expansion of critical thinking.
Jesse Cohen specializes in personalizing chess instruction tailored to each students’ specific needs and learning styles.




Logan Barnes
Logan is an up-and-coming chess player with a passion for adventure. He began playing chess at the age of 7 and has loved the game ever since. He is a United States Chess Federation Tournament Director, and coleader of the Northern Colorado Chess Club. When he’s not playing chess, Logan enjoys the challenge of rock climbing. His passion for climbing has taught him the importance of focus, determination, and perseverance, skills that have translated well to his chess game.
