Hello Macaronians!
What were you up to this week? Did you find fun things to explore with your kids during the sunny times and the rainy deluge days?
How did Mother's Day go? I know there are a lot of feelings on that day, and we don't often get asked what we want to do (and honestly we don't really want to be the ones to plan it anyway), but I hope you found some joy in a sweet piece of artwork or a thoughtful gift.
We had a fairly busy week this week, as usual (because it's never going to slow down, even though we think it's going to.....)
I had the opportunity to attend the Thornton Economic Development Awards at The Summit last week because we were nominated in the Community Spirit category. It was wonderful to celebrate the winners and meet more local small business owners. The winners were:
- A TBU Massage & Skin Spa
- El Coco Pirata
- Above & Beyond Sewing and Vacuum
- Sashco, Inc.
- Premier School of Dance
We had our last spring soccer games this past weekend and then headed to Monster Jam at Mile High. That's always a fun event and the kids have so much fun!
My Mother's Day was filled with back-to-back sports. First flag football, where I was just grateful it wasn't raining, and then off to i9 volleyball. The kids both had great sports days, so it was really fun to see them both as they improve. After sports, I relaxed with my book and enjoyed a nice dinner prepared by my husband.
On Monday I attended the Thornton Area Chamber of Commerce networking event, and I'm loving being more involved in that new organization! If you're a local small business owner I'd encourage you to check them out and come network with us at the monthly events. This month's event was at Thorncreek golf course, but sadly not outside on their beautiful patio (because it was, you guessed it, raining....)
This Tuesday was the last full week of classes for my kids at their homeschool program. My son's 2nd grade class has focused on Hawaii for the last few months and performed an adorable program including two hulas and a fun musical number. I can't believe this school year is over already. It feels like it went quickly, but it also feels like September was years ago!
Today was jam-packed with a visit to Stoll Orthodontics for bottom braces for my daughter (she's not thrilled), chiropractic adjustments at Kindred Chiropractic for all of us, and a quick stop at The Giggling Life Care Form for my daughter to work with her 4H rabbit. (Did you know you can lease animals for 4H if you're in The Giggling Life Care Farm's 4H club? We've been loving it this year and both of my kids will be showing animals - that don't live at my house! - at the fair this year!)
In the upcoming week, we'll be preparing for a big Midwest road trip, so I haven't planned much (thank you past version of me!), and we'll have football and volleyball, and I have my Supper Club this weekend. Before we head out of town we're going to attend the Bounce Empire media night and give you the inside scoop on the new massive entertainment complex. I'm really curious what that will look like, and if they have any family-based pricing. Current pricing is set at $25/hour/person, which will be a little tricky for families.
That's all from me this week, I hope you have a great week with your kiddos!
Peace, love, and macaroni,
Susan
