Publisher's Note - June 22nd - A Fantastic Hike & Kid Free!

June 22, 2023

Hello Macaronians!

We've been kid free since Monday when we dropped our kids off at overnight camp. As I write this they're currently on their challenge hike for the week, and I can't wait to hear all about it! They've also done a backpacking overnight and will be doing horseriding tomorrow on their last day. I can't wait to pick them up Saturday and hear every single word about what they've been up to!

Meanwhile, my husband and I have enjoyed a very quiet house! I've gotten the opportunity to have lots of focused work time, and we've made time to head out and play too! On Monday we went to Bruz beers to enjoy one of my favorite white beers. On Tuesday we went out to sushi at Yonsei near 120th and Colorado, it's delicious!! On Wednesday we headed to Johnny's Steakhouse to take advantage of their Happy Hour (3-6, M-F) and half-off bottles of wine. Tonight we're heading to New Terrain Brewery in Golden with some friends, and tomorrow we're planning to go to Avery up in Longmont. I LOVE their fish and chips and can't wait to enjoy that on their patio! So we've been having a lot of fun, and my brain feels rested from not having to answer questions or make food every five seconds. But I sure do miss them, it's just not the same around here without all the chaos they bring. It will be good to be all back together!

Before we dropped the kids off at camp we had a really fun Father's Day weekend! We hiked Horsetooth Falls which was amazing! It sounds like the falls aren't always running, but this year it was putting on a spectacular show. The hike is only about a mile into the falls, with both up and down, so it was really enjoyable. We stayed at the falls to play for a bit, then headed back. It's important to know that the parking lot gets super busy, but we got there before nine and they let us in to "circle." After about five minutes we found someone leaving and were able to head out on our hike.

When they get back we'll be diving back into our regular summer schedule of camp at The Giggling Life Care Farm and it's a big week for 4H activities! But first, we're hosting all the families from my Supper Club with a Hawaiian luau on Sunday. Looking forward to having everyone together, we haven't done that since the pandemic, and it's long overdue!

I hope you're enjoying summer activities with your kiddos. The weather sure has been strange, but honestly, I'm enjoying some of the cooler weather. Last night's storm was a bit crazy, so glad our hail wasn't as big as in some other areas. What happened at Red Rocks sounded terrifying, lots of battered and bruised concertgoers this morning I think!

That's it for me this week!

Peace, love, and macaroni,

Susan
