Hello Macaronians! Phew, it was a hot one! I hope you stayed cool however you spent your week. Head to any fun water play areas?
We had a bit of a whirlwind week, and it doesn't feel like it's going to stop for a while!
Thursday night my daughter sold her project with the Young Entrepreneurs Program at the Brighton City BBQ. It was fun to see all the work the kids had put into their projects. There was lots of jewelry, baked goods, dog treats, and other unique items! My daughter made baked goods, and even with some snaffus along the way (our oven went out and one item was a total disaster), she had a really great time selling. We had talked a lot about her strategy, but she had to pivot on the spot a lot at the sale, and she learned a LOT about that process. I'm looking forward to her doing it again next year, and excited to see what changes she might make.
We had my son's birthday party on Saturday and he had so much fun! He really wanted Spiderman and Captain America to join him for the party, and the look on his face when they walked in was priceless. I think he was in awe for their entire visit. We played some "in real life" Among Us (superhero version of course), did Superhero training with our honored guests, whacked at a pinata and had cake and ice cream. It was a fun day!
We had plans to get to Johnny's Steakhouse for the Satire keg tapping, but our day got all messed up. We stopped at Satire Brewing a little later in the day though, which was a nice break from our crazy weekend.
Tuesday was my son's birthday so we celebrated again! It was a pretty full day that started with Farm Camp at The Giggling Life Care Farm, then we headed to Boondocks for a few hours, and then we were going to have to run to soccer practice, but the little storm that blew through fixed that. We'd had enough cake with my daughter's entrepreneur program and the birthday party, so we decided to pick up Crumbl for his birthday treat. The M&M cookie is a favorite with our family, so it was a good substitute!
We're getting ready to camp this weekend, and while it makes for a shorter week, which can be stressful, I'm ready to get out into the wilderness. I haven't been out camping yet this season, so it should be a good few days away. We're heading to a new to us campground and I'll share all the details when we get back!
When we get back 4H fair week will be well underway! My daughter is showing her rabbit on Friday and my son is showing a goat on Thursday. This has been a ridiculous learning curve, so I know there's lots that we're going to learn in this week of fair, but I'm looking forward to my kids having this experience. Sounds like we'll be over there a LOT next week, so come say hi! (You'll find us in the goat barn likely, hanging out with my son's goat!)
With these hotter temps it feels like summer just got started, but I'm already seeing friends from around the country heading back to school, and I feel like it's too early. There's so much more summer fun to be had!
For those of you with school-aged kids, I hope you're sneaking in some final summer adventures. (And if you're totally burned out from summer with the kids, that's okay too! Take care of yourself and know that it's coming to an end soon!) I know those of you with younger kids (and homeschoolers) are ready for the big kids to head back to school so you can have the run of things again. I hope you've found places where your littles have enjoyed playing this summer too!
That's it for me this week, have a great week with your kiddos, and don't forget to take some time for yourself!
Peace, love, and macaroni,
Susan
