Hello Macaronians!
The world seems quieter this week with kids back to school, it's like being able to take a deep breath!
What were we up to this week?
I saw Jagged Little Pill at the Buell Theater with my daughter on Thursday and it was fantastic. The story was beautifully crafted by Diablo Cody and the music just fit together perfectly with it. There were a lot of hard themes, but all good things to talk about with older tweens and teens. My daughter and I had some great conversations before and afterwards. I love the way theater can challenge thinking and bring us together, it's why I love it so much. Jagged Little Pill is around for a little bit longer so there's still time to grab tickets!
On Sunday I had my Farmers Market-themed Supper Club with tons of peaches, and it was delicious! Our favorite dish was a parmesan-crusted toast with burrata, prosciutto, and peaches. Here's the recipe if you want to give it a try, it was delicious!!
On Monday we headed to Dickens Farm, one of our favorite swimming holes. It's a fantastic place to tube over little rapids with older kids, and there's swimming areas of all depths there too. I really wanted to go this spring, because the rapids would have been fun, but we were too busy traveling. The water level was definitely lower this time of year, but still super fun!
My kids went back to their one-day-a-week homeschool program this year. They came home exhausted but both said they had good days. I was thrilled to have my one full day back to myself too!
What's coming up next week?
I'm SO excited to head back to Minnesota to visit with friends and family, and go to the Great Minnesota Get Together - the State Fair!! It's a family tradition for us and the kids and I just love the time we get to spend there. My cousin is coming from Iowa to meet up with us for the day and the kids have so much fun together. We haven't been back to Minnesota for a couple of years and I am thrilled to get back 'home' (even though my parents don't live there anymore, lol!)
Next week we switch into full fall activities gear (*takes deep breath, lol*)! The kids will be back at The Giggling Life Care Farm, my daughter starts rehearsals for Elf, Jr. at The Arts HUB, and our new VEX robotics club gets started! Oh and my parents arrive on Tuesday for a visit, and we're looking forward to having them around!
I hope you get out and enjoy the cooler weather heading our way this weekend. Don't forget that pools and splash pads are still mostly open for the next couple weeks!
I'll see you in your inboxes next week!
Peace, love, and macaroni,
Susan
