Don't Forget to Vote!! How Your Vote Directly Affects Our Community!

November 2, 2023

It's Election season, and while it may not be national elections, local elections can have a big impact on the lives of parents and their children. From school board members to city council members to mayors, local officials make decisions that directly affect our families.

Here are just a few reasons why parents should vote in local elections:

  • Local elections determine the quality of our schools. School board members are responsible for hiring and firing superintendents, setting curriculum, and approving budgets. They also make decisions about school safety, transportation, and other important issues.
  • Local elections affect our quality of life. City council members and mayors make decisions about things like parks and recreation, zoning, and public safety. They also set budgets for city services that we rely on, such as roads, libraries, and fire departments.
  • Local elections are more personal. In local elections, it's more likely that you'll know the candidates or be able to meet them in person. This makes it easier to research their positions and decide who you want to vote for.
  • Local elections are more impactful. In national elections, your vote is just one of millions. But in local elections, your vote can make a real difference. In many local races, just a handful of votes can decide the outcome.

So put your right to vote to work and let your voice be heard!
