I knew I always wanted my kids to do martial arts, and I was thrilled when, several years ago, they started at Universal Taekwondo. They ended up taking a break during the pandemic, and my son has just started again!
Both kids started in the Little Dragons program, the beginner class for the younger kids aged 4-6. It's an excellent class that teaches the fundamentals of Taekwondo. I love how every class starts with a pep talk about how the skills learned that day apply to life outside of the classroom. The kids learn about safety, confidence, respect, and following instructions. To earn stripes, they simply had to try their hardest. Once they had earned a stripe for each class topic, they were able to test for a higher Little Dragons belt. I LOVE this message, and it builds a wonderful foundation for the next level.

My son recently went back to the "big kids" program and is so excited to be back! I love that the classes include different levels of belts. They encourage each other and all learn together, it's great for all ages of kids.

I can’t write about our experience at Universal Taekwondo without talking about Master Mike and his teaching staff – they’re INCREDIBLE! Master Mike is patient and kind and wants the kids to have fun, but instills respect. I can’t imagine her having a better teacher and guide as my kids go through their young lives. He is supported by helpers in the class of higher belts. They are helpful and encouraging but firm in their expectations, which I know they learned from Master Mike’s teaching style.
