Publisher's Note - July 25th - Hazy Days of Summer

July 25, 2024

Hello Macaronians!

Summer days are fleeting for our school-aged kids, and I can't believe it's coming to a close! It doesn't feel like our summer is slowing down at all, though. We've got a few jam-packed weeks left!

What were we up to last week?
After several quiet days at home, we picked up the kids from Keystone Science School on Saturday. It was great to have them home!

The next day, we hosted my son's birthday party with our friends. The kids did an escape room that I bought on Etsy (which everyone seemed to enjoy except the birthday boy 🤦🏼‍♀️), made cotton candy, played air hockey, and played the card game Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. The parents even got a round of Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza in! It's such a fun group game if you want to let out some big, hearty laughs!

This week, the kids are in a mountain biking camp with Cyclerie, and my daughter is finishing up her Little Bellas mountain biking activity. Plus, we're in the final week of preparing for the fair with their animals, so we've been at the farm a lot.

What are we up to this week?

Thursday is my son's birthday, and he's invited a couple of friends to Bounce Empire to jump the day away. He always requests a raclette dinner for his birthday, which is a fun way to celebrate his birthday and our Swiss heritage.

On Saturday, we're going to the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party at Ball Arena. This is a new event, and I'm looking forward to seeing it with the kids!

On Sunday, we have our first animal event for the fair—agility with the goats. The goats will be tested on several pieces of equipment to see how well they follow and listen to the kids. It's a new event for us, and I'm excited to see how the kids and goats do.

Then, I'll do a quick flip from farm to dinner and enjoy a meal with my Supper Club. This month's theme is Brazilian, and the menu looks delicious. I'm responsible for the cocktail, and I have to narrow down which one I'll share with the group on Sunday.

On Monday night, we check the goats in for their week at the fair, and then our lives will revolve around the fairgrounds for most of the week.

But my daughter and I will enjoy the Alanis Morisette concert on Wednesday night. She became a huge fan after seeing the Jagged Little Pill musical and is now obsessed. I saw Alanis in concert in my teens, so it will be a fun throwback to take my daughter! I do have some new music to learn, though. She's released several albums since what was popular in my youth!

That's it from me for this week. I'll see you in your inboxes next week!

Peace, love, and macaroni,

Susan
