Publisher's Note - October 10th - Fall Fun

October 10, 2024

Hello Macaronians!

What were we up to this week?

My book club conversation about White Noise on Thursday was very interesting. The book turned out to be a rambler and wasn't a favorite, which was a bummer because I did enjoy the character development. The movie on Netflix looks promising though, so I added that to my list. We've decided that National Book Award and Nobel Prize winners are probably not books we'll enjoy after a couple that we thought were duds. The good news is we're reading The Women by Kristin Hannah for next month, and from what I've seen, that will not be a dud!

My husband and I spent Friday night (while my son was a Dungeons & Dragons at the Arts HUB) at Cellar West Brewery in Lafayette. We enjoyed their beer, and the food truck out front had tasty food, too. One of the owners is a Wisconsinite so they had fried cheese curds, butter burgers, Wisconsin cheese mac, and Sprecher root beer - it was a fun find!

I had some Halloween fun with my Westminster Polka Dots group on Saturday at our Boo Bash! We all dressed up based on a 90's theme, enjoyed some yummy treats, and played charades and Pictionary. It was a really fun night with a great group of women.

We saw the Wild Robot on Sunday, and it was so good!

We had our 4-H meeting this week, and it was great to see everyone again. It's the beginning of our year, so we're working to set ourselves up for success as we look ahead to fair in August. We'll be selecting projects, nominating officers, and getting organized. There are a few spots available this year, so if you're interested, send me an email.

My son has started going to the homeschool classes at Warrior Challenge Arena. His first class was a little daunting. He had this look of fear and admiration on his face anytime they'd do a new obstacle. But in his second class, he seemed more confident and ready to try things. It's going to be fun to watch him improve every week!

What are we up to next week?

We have an incredibly clear schedule for the weekend, which means I'll get to catch up on a few projects and also have some time to continue my basement organization project. I'm also planning some family fun with homemade pizza night, movie nights, and game time during the day. We've recently been enjoying Clarkson's Farm on Prime, and the kids beg to watch it. All four of us love it, and I've learned a lot about farming, too. It should be a nice and relaxing weekend!

It also seems we have a quiet week with just our normal activities, which I guess isn't always quiet. We have a couple of busier weeks coming up after that, so I'm just going to revel in the so-called quiet for a couple of weeks. I can feel the difference in my brain, and I love that I get a chance to declutter my thoughts and some of the spaces in my home!

That's it for me this week, have a great week with your kiddos!

Peace, love, and macaroni,

Susan
