Hello Macaronians!
I hope you had a fun Halloween with your kiddos! We had a great evening hanging out by the fire handing out candy!
What were we up to this week?
Last week was a whirlwind! I was sick earlier in the week and then headed out of town for my Polka Dot Powerhouse conference.
The conference, called Celebration, was incredible. The Polka Dot community is incredibly supportive and we lived in this little bubble of love for several days. We had two full days of programming and lots of fun outside the event hall! I went to a Rocky Horror Show Drag Show, wine tasting in the Snake River Valley, and spent two evenings at a fun dueling piano bar! I made memories and friendships that will last a lifetime! (I haven't posted any pictures on socials yet, but I will do that next week!)
When I got home, I headed to my Supper Club. Our theme this month was squash and pumpkin, and we had a wonderful meal together. Squash focaccia, pumpkin-braised short ribs with pumpkin polenta, and pumpkin creme brulee served in little pumpkins—it was all delicious!
We had a great day at Anderson Farms on Monday. I decided to do our visit later in the month, hoping the weather wouldn't be as hot, and we had a pretty good day!
It was a busy week, but luckily I blocked off some time for pumpkin carving too!
And, of course, Halloween last night was a lot of fun! The kids are getting older, and our experience as a family has definitely changed. I wasn't sure what activities the kids would do at Anderson Farms. But they both climbed into the barrel train and bikes like when they were little. On Halloween, our daughter headed off to spend time with friends in the neighborhood, and our son spent most of his time handing out candy (and loved scaring people with his costume). We only get them for a short time, and I'm soaking up all the memories I can of our family life, which is starting to change a little bit as the kids get more independent!
What are we up to next week?
Next week's calendar feels overwhelming but filled with good stuff.
The Brighton Image Summit is on Tuesday and Wednesday, and my daughter is so excited to attend for her third year. The conference is a fantastic opportunity for young people in the state to be empowered and become active community members, building networks of young leaders. I love that she gets so excited about this event, and I can't wait to hear all the impact this year's conference has. Head to https://www.brightonimagesummit.org/ if you think your kiddo would be interested in this, too!
I have book club this week and we're reading The Women by Kristin Hannah. It's a powerful read, and a part of our American history that I know very little about. I'm looking forward to finishing the book and the discussion it will bring.
That's it for me this week. Have a great week with your kiddos!
Peace, love, and macaroni,
Susan
