Hello Macaronians!
It looks like we've been dumped into snowy season, my least favorite part of the year. Hopefully, this will pass, and we can have more of the beautiful fall we'd been having!
What were we up to this week?
My husband went to Velo Swap this weekend and found a new mountain bike for our daughter. If you're a biker, you should add this event to your calendar for next year! It's a huge event at the National Western Complex where the biking community comes together, and one of the big draws is used high-quality bikes. My husband has bought his road bike and mountain bike there over the years and loved what he found.
He wanted to try out his bike right away, so he loaded up the kids and all the bikes, and they enjoyed an afternoon at Valmont Park. I love that they all enjoyed this activity together! (And I got a little alone time at home, too!)
My son asked to go skating this week, so we headed to Skate City in Westminster. I didn't realize that they have two-hour skating sessions, and you have to pay for each session separately. But luckily, we got there at the beginning of a session, and he had about two hours to have fun in the rink. Every time he's rollerblading I feel like I want to be out there too, I always loved flying along to the fun music. But I'm really worried I'd break all my bones, and my life would come to a screeching halt. It doesn't feel like a good idea!
I had my book club this week, and we met on Tuesday this month, which was a nice distraction that night. I loved chatting with them about The Women, especially hearing their personal stories about that time in history.
My husband was out of town this week, so I was on the hook for the activities and driving around town. Life was a bit of a whirlwind, especially this week. But we made it through, and I'm happy to have a quiet weekend to look forward to.
What are we up to next week?
We have a quiet weekend ahead with a few kids' activities. Prost has a new menu item - Flamekuche, or Tarte Flambee, a favorite of mine in France. So maybe we'll head that way while the snow comes down. I also have more work to do with our basement organization project, so I'll probably spend a few hours on that. And I started Iron Flame, the second book in the Fourth Wing series, so hopefully I get a chance to snuggle up with that too.
Next week, we have our 4-H club meetings and are electing officers for the upcoming year. Both of my kids are running for leadership, so we'll be working on their speeches for the big night.
That's it for me this week. Have a great week with your kiddos!
Peace, love, and macaroni,
Susan
