π Hey Macaronians! π
π Ready for the holiday chaos or still sprinting to the finish line?
For those of you juggling "spirit week" costumes π and prepping for the holiday break π—you're almost there! Soon, the kids will be home, bringing a mix of holiday magic β¨ and, let’s be honest, sibling squabbles. But hey, that's part of the charm, right? π
But I hope you get glimmers of holiday magic πͺ with your kids over the next few weeks. I'll be thinking of all of you magic makers out there doing your thing!
What were we up to this week?
- πΆI went to a fantastic Polkadot Powerhouse "Dot Love" event where self-care goes deep. This month's facilitator was Marta Spirk, an empowerment and marketing coach for entrepreneurs. She performed original empowering songs, and we reflected on how they resonated with us as a group. It was a great couple of hours with my Dot sisters away from the holiday craziness.
- πΌ It was homeschool skate week, so my son went rollerskating at Wagon Wheel. I love watching him enjoy himself in the rink!
- πWe FINALLY got our Christmas decorations up. Better late than never, I guess. Plus, we tackled some basement organizing (not as fun, but needed).
- πI saw Funny Girl at the DCPA with my daughter and enjoyed the show!
- π§βοΈ We also squeezed in a family game of Quacks, a new favorite game for our family.
- My Dot Sisters and I had a festive cookie swap and self-care gift exchange π§Όπ. Meanwhile, my son got his adrenaline fix at Flow Vault's parkour night. He’s already begging to go back!
What are we up to next week?
- πΎThe kids are pumped for movie night at Giggling Life Care Farm (cue animal cuddles π + holiday classics π₯). And I’m looking forward to...a quiet house!
- π¦·Both kids have dentist appointments this week. (Why didn't I wait until after the holidays? I've already been at the ortho twice in the last two weeks, too!)
- 𧑠I'm excited to have lunch with another Dot on Friday and eager to learn more about her and her business.
- π―οΈ I'm SO excited for our family Solstice celebration on Saturday. Once the sun goes down, we live in candlelight, and it's magical! We make a special solstice feast, share our intentions for 2025 and what we're leaving behind in 2024 (and the kids get to light things on fire), light our Yule log, and play games. It will be a slow evening of togetherness.
- πͺ On Sunday, we have tickets to Cirque Holidaze at the Bellco Theater, and I'd like to check out the Christkindelmarket afterward. We had stopped going for a couple of years because they didn't have a lot of authentic German/Swiss vendors. But I reviewed the list this year, and it seemed hopeful!
- π€ My parents arrive Sunday night, and we have big plans: sushi π£, fine dining at Noisette, Christmas Eve raclette π§, lots of cookie baking, and plenty of games and downtime.
That's it for me this week. Have a great week with your kiddos!
Peace, love, and macaroni,
Susan
