Publisher's Note - January 3rd - Happy New Year!

January 3, 2025

๐ŸŽ‰ Happy New Year, Macaronians! ๐ŸŽ‰

I hope you had a wonderful festive season with your kiddos! With the holidays behind us, we’re diving into January—cold and a little gray (โ„๏ธ), at least for now. I’m already dreaming of warmer weather ๐ŸŒž and planning our annual ski adventures ๐ŸŽฟ!

What We Were Up To Last Week

We had a cozy and fun-filled holiday week:

  • ๐ŸŽ„ Christmas Fun: My parents stayed with us, and we spent a lot of quality time at home.
  • ๐Ÿฟ Movie Fun: We saw Mufasa ๐Ÿฆ—the story was great, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations overall.
  • ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Date Nights:
    • The adults enjoyed a night out at Noisette downtown—amazing food! ๐Ÿ˜‹ I’ll be adding it to our Restaurants for Celebrations guide.
    • We also tried Matsumotto in Westminster when our go-to sushi spot, Yonsei, was closed—it didn’t disappoint! ๐Ÿฃ
  • ๐ŸŽก Weekend Adventures:
    • My husband took the kids skating โ›ธ๏ธ at Skate City. It was packed, so their visit was short but sweet.
    • On Sunday, we saw Gutenberg ๐ŸŽญ at the DCPA. It had its funny moments, but it wasn’t quite what I’d hoped.
    • Afterward, we visited Flight Club ๐ŸŽฏ, a darts bar with a speakeasy vibe. The cocktails ๐Ÿน were fantastic, and the games were a blast! It’s a great date spot—look for it in our upcoming Date Night Guide!
  • ๐Ÿคธ‍โ™‚๏ธ Kid Fun: My son loved his all-day ninja camp at Warrior Arena—it wore him out in the best way! ๐Ÿฅ‹
  • ๐ŸŽ† New Year’s Eve: We spent the day together as a family—walking ๐Ÿšถ‍โ™€๏ธ, playing games ๐ŸŽฒ, enjoying a delicious dinner ๐Ÿ–, and ending with our annual yule log burning ๐Ÿ”ฅ (cut short by snow! โ„๏ธ). We rang in the New Year with Mario Kart ๐ŸŽฎ—simple, fun, and perfect.

What’s Coming Up This Week

We’re getting back into the swing of things, and here’s what’s on the agenda:

  • ๐ŸŽฟ Ski Equipment Hunt: We usually rent, but I think I'm going to buy gear this year for some day-trip ski fun. I’ll be checking out Second Time Sports in Northglenn for gear.
  • ๐Ÿป Prost’s Anniversary: We’re planning to stop by Prost’s one-year celebration for a drink—it’s been a while since our last visit!
  • ๐Ÿ”จ Home Projects: Our basement revamp is almost complete! It’s becoming a much more functional space, and we couldn’t be happier. If you’re in the thick of raising little ones and dreaming of having the time for home projects, don’t worry—your time will come!
  • ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Monday’s Adventure: My son and I are finally getting our tongue tie releases done. We’re both excited and a little nervous. I’ll share how it goes!
  • โœˆ๏ธ Homeschool Exploration: On Tuesday, we’re checking out the homeschool program at Wings Over the Rockies. My son’s interest in aviation and robotics makes this an exciting opportunity.
  • ๐Ÿ“š Book Club: I’m hosting book club this month, and we’ll be discussing Wicked. I read it years ago and am thrilled to revisit it and chat with the group about how the book and movie intertwine.

That’s all from me this week. Wishing you and your family a fantastic start to 2025!

โœจ Peace, love, and macaroni,
Susan
