The City of Brighton invites young people aged 14-21 to participate in the Growing Grads program, a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience and develop essential career skills.
Summer Job Launch: Your First Step
The program begins with the mandatory Summer Job Launch workshop, a one-day intensive held on February 22nd, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at The Brighton Armory. This workshop provides crucial skills for a successful job search:
- Resume Writing: Learn to create a professional resume that highlights your skills and experiences.
- Interview Preparation: Master effective interview techniques to confidently answer questions and make a strong impression.
- Soft Skills Development: Enhance essential workplace skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Growing Grads Paid Summer Internships
Following the Summer Job Launch, eligible participants can apply for paid summer internships within various City of Brighton departments. Interns will:
- Gain valuable on-the-job experience working alongside experienced professionals.
- Participate in weekly professional development sessions covering topics like financial literacy, communication, and conflict resolution.
- Develop personalized work plans with their supervisors to enhance their skills and career goals.
Eligibility and Application Process
- Eligibility: Applicants must reside within Brighton city limits or attend a School District 27J school.
- Application Period: Applications will be open from February 22nd to March 2nd at 11:59 PM.
- Mandatory Attendance: All interns are required to attend professional development courses on specific dates in June and July.
