We Did It! Tongue Tie Revisions Complete πŸŽ‰

My son and I are on a journey to better breathing with Brittany at Joyful Breathing. As part of this process, she recommended getting our tongue ties released to improve tongue mobility—and we did it!

The Procedure: Quick and (Almost) Painless We officially had our tongue tie revisions completed, and the procedure wasn’t too bad! πŸ™Œ The dentist used a laser, which made it quick and relatively painless. My son also had lip and cheek ties removed, so his recovery was a little more uncomfortable than mine.

Right away, I could tell my tongue had more mobility. During the procedure, the dentist had me stick out my tongue a few times, and I could feel the difference immediately.

Recovery: A Lesson in Gratitude for Our Tongues 😜The first few days were the toughest. Who knew how much we rely on our tongues for... everything? Talking, eating, swallowing—it was a challenge at first! But each day got a little easier.

Before long, we moved from soft foods to solids, and now we’re back to eating normally. πŸŽ‰ There’s still some inflammation, but we’re feeling great and can’t believe how far we’ve come!

Our Secret Weapon: Brittany at Joyful Breathing πŸ’ͺThis procedure was just one step in our broader myofunctional therapy journey with Brittany at Joyful Breathing. She didn’t perform the tongue tie release itself—that was done by a specialized dentist—but she prepared us every step of the way. Her guidance made such a difference!

Before the procedure, Brittany had us practicing stretches and exercises to get our muscles ready, which made recovery so much smoother. At our follow-up, she checked our progress and was thrilled with the results. Now, we’re diving into the next phase: retraining our tongues to function properly. It’s a lot of work, but every day I can feel my tongue getting stronger. (And bonus—I’m no longer experiencing jaw pain during exercises!)
