Planning ahead for summer activities? Join the City of Thornton for some fun outdoors! Registration for the Outdoor Adventure Series begins on April 13, at 7 a.m.

GPS Treasure Hunt I Ages 6-12

This treasure hunt is similar to geocaching but adds elements of a scavenger hunt. Participants will have fun locating hidden treasures. Fees: $10R/$12NR

Cateye Tour I Ages 6-12

This exploration will take place at night with participants searching for a series of cateyes (bicycle reflectors) with flashlights. Fees: $10R/$12NR

Dinner Nature Hike I Ages 6-12

Join us for dinner and an approximate two-mile hike around the lake exploring different animal habitats. Due to COVID-19, please pack your own dinner/snack and drink. Fees: $10R/$12NR

Nature Photography I Ages 8-12

Join us for this beginner photography course to learn how to take great nature photos. You can use your cellphone or a digital camera. Fees: $10R/$12NR

Exploring With Your Grandkids I Ages 5+

This guided, approximately two-mile, nature hike is a great way for grandparents and grandkids to spend time together learning about nature. Participants will meet at the Active Adult Center, 11181 Colorado Blvd., and travel to the designated park in our large capacity van. Please bring water, sunscreen, snack, and appropriate footwear. Fees: $20R/$24NR (includes one adult and one child)

Trip Back In Time With Your Grandkids I Ages 5+

Travel to Burlington Colorado for a unique tour of the Old Town Museum and show your grandkids what it used to be like back in the day. Participants will meet at the Active Adult Center, 11181 Colorado Blvd., and travel to the museum in Burlington (approximately 2.5 hours) in our large capacity van. We’ll then tour the museum and eat lunch in Burlington (not included in fee) before returning. Please bring drinks/snacks for the road, we will stop in Limon for a short break. Fees: $30R/$36NR (includes one adult and one child)

Youth Fishing Class I Ages 6-12

Fishing is a sport everyone can enjoy throughout their entire life and fishing with your children/grandchildren is a great outdoor activity you can enjoy as a family. This introductory class will focus on the basics of fishing (knots, casting, fish handling, identification, etc.) and mostly is about having fun! Parents are encouraged to stay and help with younger children. Location: Grandview Ponds, 4401 East 104th Ave. Fees: $20R/$24NR
