27J Schools leadership and community leaders will join students, staff and parents to cut the ribbon on the new Discovery Magnet School on Friday, August 4th as they celebrate the construction completion of Discovery Magnet School, the district’s first school to offer a specialized K-8 learning focus.
Discovery Magnet, which has been under construction for the past year in the Willow Bend community of northeast Thornton, breaks the mold for 27J by not only offering a science-focused learning curriculum but also gathering its student enrollment through a lottery-based enrollment process.
The new school was constructed thanks to voter support of a $515 million construction bond approved by voters in 2021 that allows for construction of new schools in this growing school district and important upgrades to existing schools and facilities.
